6-Year-Old Boy Charges Mom’s Credit Card With $16K Worth Of Video Games

George Johnson, a 6-year-old boy, is in big trouble after he charged his mom’s credit card with $16,000 worth of video games from the Apple app-store. As 41-year-old mother Jessica Johnson was working from home during the pandemic, the Wilton, Connecticut real-estate broker hadn’t realized that her youngest son, of two, went on a huge shopping spree with her iPad.

It’s reported that over the month of July, little George bought tons of add-on booster for his favorite video game, Sonic Forces. While the boosters started out at $1.99 for red rings, the products moved up to $99.99 for gold rings; which allowed him to access new characters and gain more speed — all of this added to hundreds of bucks at a time. One day (July 9), George spent over $2,500 in 25 new charges to his mom’s card.

Eventually, the mother of two discovered Apple and PayPul withdrawing the massive sums from her Chase account, which she assumed to be fraud and called it in, claiming fraud on $16,293.10 in charges. In October, the investigation led Chase to confirm that the charges were indeed hers and to contact Apple, who told her she should’ve contacted within 60 days of the charges. Now, the mover, who works on commission and whose income has decreased by “80% this year” due to the pandemic, is forced to work off the debt.
