$5,000 Reward Offered As Feds Hunt Down Florida Suspect Who Mutilated And Carved ‘TRUMP’ Into A Manatee’s Back
Currently the Feds are hunting down a Florida suspect who mutilated and carved “TRUMP” into a manatee’s back. A $5,000 reward is also being offered for any information that can help them find and prosecute the perpetrator.
The mutilated manatee was discovered by tour boat captain Hailey Warrington, who was scuba diving in the Homosassa River along Florida’s Gulf Coast on Sunday (Jan. 10). Warrington took photos and video of the etched manatee that have since gone viral.
After taking footage, Warrington immediately reported the sighting to the wildlife authorities. Currently, The Center for Biological Diversity launched an investigation and announced the $5,000 reward for information on the culprit’s identity and whereabouts. , Florida director at the Center for Biological Diversity Jaclyn Lopez says, “Manatees aren’t billboards, and people shouldn’t be messing with these sensitive and imperiled animals for any reason. However this political graffiti was put on this manatee, it’s a crime to interfere with these creatures, which are protected under multiple federal laws.”
