In 2022, Haley Woloshen met Cody Bryant while she was on a family vacation in Maui, Hawaii. According to a TikTok video recently posted by Bryant, who is from Hermosa Beach, California, the two immediately hit it off upon meeting; and they fast-tracked their relationship once they learned that they only lived about a mile away from each other in their home city of Los Angeles.

For the next few weeks, Woloshen and Bryant, who are now boyfriend and girlfriend, grew closer and closer, creating a deeper bond with one another, but before they even had a chance to come up for air, their fast-growing relationship came to a screeching halt. After weeks of talking to each other and going on several dates, Bryant abruptly stopped answering the woman’s calls and texts, leaving her to conclude that he was no longer interested in her and had ghosted her; but unbeknownst to her, he was in a coma.

Heartbroken and confused, the woman soon came across a GoFundMe campaign that was set up for the man she had quickly fallen for. The fundraiser was created by his family, who shared that he had been hit by a taxi driver while riding a moped in Ibiza, Spain. The September 2022 accident left the man in a coma in the ICU after suffering from a traumatic brain injury and a fractured femur.

Bryant said that neurologists in Spain were “not optimistic” about his chances of surviving his injuries, much less achieving any significant recovery. This whole time, the woman had believed he had ghosted her and didn’t realize he was fighting for his life in a coma. Fortunately, Bryant woke up from his coma and returned to California to begin rehabilitation.

Sharing their story on TikTok, Bryant said that months after his accident and return home, he and Woloshen reconnected and began to see each other on a platonic basis; mainly because his brain injury, sadly, left him with no memory of their prior time together. He said, “I actually had no memory of our pre-accident connection.”

Making up for all of the missing memories, like in the film ‘50 First Dates,’ Bryant and Woloshen decided to rekindle their romance and make new memories together again by going on dates and re-learning one another. He said, “Neither of us expected it, but feelings started to build. I joke that she won me over a second time 😜.”

Bryant said that things initially were challenging as he and Woloshen tried to navigate the boundaries of boyfriend and girlfriend and patient and caregiver. However, he admitted that the two couldn’t be any happier and have since been dating for “over a year.”
