50 Cent recently said he does not plan to work with Power creator Courtney A. Kemp again, reigniting a dispute over their roles in developing the Starz series.

In a Variety interview published October 17, the rapper and television producer said, “I don’t look forward to working with her ever again.”

50 Cent credited his music and business pitch with helping sell Power to former Starz executive Chris Albrecht. He said he played song excerpts during the presentation and produced eight tracks, including the show’s theme.

Kemp disputed parts of his account, including his description of production spending and involvement in budget meetings. However, she said, “I have never once understated his importance in the genesis of ‘Power.’”

After reading Kemp’s response, 50 Cent posted on Instagram and made a shocking allegation about her personal relationships with cast and crew members.

Kemp has distinguished between helping create the series and helping launch it. She credits 50 Cent’s involvement but maintains that he did not write or create Power.

The show’s original credits identify Kemp as creator and showrunner, while 50 Cent is listed as an executive producer and cast member. The first season premiered in 2014 and starred Omari Hardwick as James “Ghost” St. Patrick.
