40 People Contract Coronavirus After Attending Church

Donald Trump might want to reconsider opening places of worship this weekend after seeing the consequences of similar decisions in other countries.

According to the NY POST, 40 people contracted COVID-19 after attending a church service in Frankfurt, Germany. The scary part is that Evangelical Christian Baptist Church, followed all safety guidelines on May 10, and the virus still spread.

“The situation is very dynamic,” the department’s deputy chief Antoni Walczok said of the incident.

Luckily, most of those infected do not have severe symptoms or life threatening complications. Six were hospitalized.

“Most of them are not seriously ill. As far as we know only one person has been admitted to hospital,” said Rene Gottschalk, head of a nearby hospital.

Churches have been permitted to hold services since May 1. They must follow distancing rules and hygiene laws, but there are not limits on the number of people who can attend services.

As we reported, during a press conference On Friday, President Donald Trump deemed churches and other houses of worship “essential” and called on governors to allow them to reopen this weekend even despite the threat of the novel coronavirus.

“Today I’m identifying houses of worship — churches, synagogues, and mosques — as essential places that provide essential services,” he said.
