An L.A. community is after 22-year-old artist and social media personality Maria de la Rosa, known to fans as DELAROSA, was gunned down in what police are calling an ambush-style attack early Saturday morning in Northridge.

According to LAPD officials, DELAROSA was sitting in a parked car with two other people when the shooters rolled up and unleashed a barrage of gunfire around 1:25 a.m. Witnesses say the suspects pulled up quietly before the shots rang out, shattering the stillness of the night and sending the neighborhood into chaos.

DELAROSA was rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors could not save her. The two other passengers were injured, though authorities haven’t shared much about their conditions or whether they were struck by bullets. Investigators haven’t announced a motive, and no arrests have been made.

The loss hit especially hard because DELAROSA was just getting started. She dropped her first single, “No me llames”(“Don’t Call Me”), in August and had been grinding in the studio, sharing her journey with more than 40,000 followers on Instagram. One of her recent posts showed her posing with an electric guitar, captioned in Spanish: “Busy cooking in the kitchen.” Fans took it as a sign she was cooking up her next big moment.

Instead, she’s become the latest young talent taken far too soon.

The Latin music community reacted with heartbreak and disbelief. Heavyweights like Jimmy Humilde and Juan Moisesof Los Gemelos de Sinaloa sent their condolences, joining fans who flooded social media with memories and prayers.

Producer and engineer Times J Martinez shared a message in Spanish honoring her promise and passion, adding, “Me duele que haya sido con violencia,” which translates to “It hurts that it happened with violence.”

Family members grieved publicly, including Deyanira De La Rosa, who posted multiple tributes filled with love, disbelief, and sorrow.

Now, the city waits for answers. And her community, both online and off, holds tight to the music, the memories, and the light she left behind.
