NJ Nurse Wanted For Allegedly Setting Co-Worker On Fire In Hospital Break Room

A New Jersey nurse who was wanted for allegedly striking a co-worker with a wrench and setting her on fire at a hospital was found dead early Tuesday, according to the NY Post.

Nicholas Pagano, a 31-year-old contracted nurse who worked at Hackensack University Medical Center, was found dead from a possible suicide in Winslow Township, authorities shared with NBC New York.

Investigators seem to believe Pagano grabbed a gun from his brother’s house to kill himself after setting his coworker on fire in the break room.

He was wanted for allegedly burning a 54-year-old co-worker and striking her with a wrench in a break room early Monday, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella stated.

The victim reportedly suffered third-degree burns to her upper body, face and hands, as also a cut to her head that needed stitches, Musella said.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with her and her family,” hospital spokesman Ben Goldstein told NJ.com. “Hackensack Meridian Health strongly condemns any act of violence.”

No one saw the alleged attack and a probable motive was uncertain, a hospital spokesman told NJ.com. The building has ramped up protection following the attack Monday.
