2 Capitol Police Officers Suspended, 10 More Under Investigation Over Deadly Pro-Trump Riot
Per Rep., Tim Ryan, D-Ohio, 2 US Capitol Police officers have been suspended, with at least 10 more under investigation over the deadly Pro-Trump riot and assault on the Capitol last week.
In their investigation, federal agents are currently looking at whether current and former law enforcement officials played any roles in the riot. It’s reported that one of officers suspended took a selfie with a rioter that helped overtake the Capitol, while another suspended wore a “Make America Great Again” hat, and directed the mob inside the building.

As mentioned, at least 10 officers are being investigated, but there may be as many as 17 being looked at as part of eight total investigations of insurrection at the Capitol. Currently, the identities of the officers have not been made public, and there hasn’t been any confirmed mention of any arrests yet. The news of suspensions arrives just a couple days after the department’s chief, Steven Sund, announced his resignation over the events.
