16-Year-Old Girl Killed Over Social Media Beef, Bully Brands Her A ‘Prostitute’ & Family Demands Justice
The family of a 16-year-old girl is demanding justice after she was killed over a social media beef, where her bully branded her a “prostitute.” The young girl, identified as Mareja Pratt, was a student at Elsik High School in Houston, Texas and was shot to death on Monday (Oct. 26).
Police say before 15 shots were fired off, leaving Pratt dead and two others injured, Pratt and a 20 and 22-year-old, confronted another group about the social media harassment. The teen’s cousin, Kira Walton says she was targeted for months on Instagram, stating, “[A girl] kept picking on her on Instagram, sending people pictures saying she was a prostitute, Messing with her… messing with her to the point my cousin used to cry about it.”

Houston Police Department Commander David Angelo confirms that the shooting incident stemmed from harassment online and described the suspect as a male, who reportedly fled the scene with two women in a red or maroon four-door car.
