A 12-year-old girl has been charged after allegedly throwing acid on an 11-year-old girl during a playground argument.

As we previously reported, on July 9, an 11-year-old girl named Deaira Summers was viciously attacked with acid after getting into an argument with another child at Vernor Elementary School in Detroit, Michigan.
Summers and her family claims she was enjoying her time at the playground with her siblings and cousins when she and a cousin got into it with another girl, 12. After the fight, Summers and her family left the park, but she returned because she dropped her purse. That’s when the older girl’s mother allegedly handed her child a bottle of acid to callously throw at Summers.

The heinous act sent Summers to a nearby Children’s Hospital in excruciating pain for four agonizing days. She’s suffered severe second and third degree burns on her back, legs and arms. As Summers continued to physically and emotionally heal, the Detroit Police arrested the 12-year-old, and looked for the adults responsible for supplying her with the dangerous substance.
Since then, the 12-year-old girl has been charged in connection with the acid attack. Peer the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, the girl faces one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm and felonious assault. She was also ordered to cease contact with the victim.

After a preliminary hearing last week, the child was given a $10,000 bond ordered with a tether, meaning she will have to wear a monitor if she makes bond. Meanwhile, Summers mother, Dominique Summers, is demanding that more charges be brought against the suspect’s mother.
Speaking on the case, Prosecutor Kym Worthy said, “This is an extremely troubling set of allegations. Instant horrible decision making can have lifelong effects on others. There is no excuse for this.”
