Trump Supporter Sues To Get Money Back After Dropping $2.5M Toward Election Fraud Investigation
Fred Eshelman, a North Carolina businessman and Trump supporter, is suing to get his money back after he dropped a whopping $2.5 million toward an election fraud investigation.
Eshelman, founder of Eshelman Ventures LLC, is suing Houston, Texas-based group True the Vote Inc. after they failed to complete their promise to “investigate, litigate and expose suspected illegal balloting fraud” in the 2020 presidential election. Allegedly, the group told Eshelman that it’d cost $7,325,000 for them to open an investigation, sue the closest battleground states, and serve subpoenas to state election officials.
An additional, $500,000 was then donated after the group said they exceeded their legal expenses. Per Eshelman, as he paid and requested updates, he was only given vague responses abut four lawsuits they filed, and empty promises of follow-ups. The suits were in states President-elect Joe Biden won: Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia and Wisconsin. After the group failed to respond to his request for money back, Eshelman threatened to sue, and they offered to pay him $1 million, but he declined.
In response to Eshelman’s matter, True the Vote, Inc. stated:
“Yesterday, we made the difficult decision to dismiss our current lawsuits in Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. While we stand by the voters’ testimony that was brought forth, barriers to advancing our arguments, coupled with constraints on time, made it necessary for us to pursue a different path. But our fight for election integrity continues. The litigation component of our work is only a fraction of what we are doing to pursue real solutions to vulnerabilities in our election system. We are proud of the work we have done to inform Americans of the massive gaps in election security – and after the chaos that ensued after November 3, there is no denying the real and widespread problems nationwide. Americans are now ‘woke’ about the mess – let’s clean it up together.
