Florida Man Spits In Child’s Face For Wearing A Mask & Yells ‘You Now Have Coronavirus’
After spitting in a child’s face for wearing a mask and yelling, “You now have coronavirus,” a Florida man has been arrested and is facing charges for assault.
The incident occurred on Sunday night at Ricky T’s in Treasure Island when 47-year-old anti-masker Jason Copenhaver, of Pinellas County, walked up to a young boy wearing a mask, and told him to take it off. Local law enforcement say Copenhaver proceeded to ask the child if he could shake his hand, and when the boy refused, the suspect grabbed his arm — and while getting close enough for saliva particles to land on the child — he told him, “You now have coronavirus.”

Per his arrest affidavit, Copenhaver was “intoxicated,” and did not have on any shoes. After assaulting the child, he proceeded to the bar and approached an employee “in a threatening manner and attempted to strike him twice.” However, the worker took “physical control” of the suspect, walked him outside and restrained him to the ground until officers arrived. Copenhaver was arrested on charges of simple battery and disorderly conduct, and has since been released from jail on a $650 bond. His COVID-19 status is unknown.
